After a ten year wait, Platinum Disc Corporation has released Lonesome Dove: The Series in a 5-piece DVD set. The fans of LD:TS are ecstatic!!!

Dennis Weaver as 'William Cody'
This is a capture of Dennis Weaver as "William F. Cody" from Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show on Disc 4

The LD:TS set contains five discs with all 21 episodes in their entirety. No episodes seem to be cut. There is no special material included on these discs, nor is there a separate special materials disc.

Each episode is digitally mastered for visual clarity. There are no annoying logos of Platinum Disc corporation located anywhere during the episodes.

The audio sounds great, although there is no information on the package whether the soundtrack was digitally remastered.

The case is partly cardboard and plastic, similar to the packaging of The Simpsons DVDs. The episode names are labeled underneath the plastic packaging; however, the actual DVDs themselves are not. The DVDs are not labeled 1, 2, 3, etc. as one might suspect, either. They are labeled by a 5-digit number. For example, my Disc One is labeled only as "19519." This might prove to be annoying if the discs got out of order. The lower the 5-digit number, the lower the disc number.

The Episode Selection Main Menu lists the episode names contained on that particular disc. The central picture alternates various episode scenes, depending on which disc is inserted.

The Scene Selection Menu breaks each episode into 4 different scenes. You can see scene selections of each episode by selecting each episode, or you may return to the main menu by selecting Main Menu.
